ANCIENT EGYPTIAN ARTEFACTS
Farmers along the banks of the Nile built small towns that eventually merged together in about 3100 B.C. to create Egypt, one of the world's earliest civilisations. This was the land of pyramids and Pharaohs, and without the life-giving waters of the River Nile, Egypt would never have flourished. The Pharaohs ruled for about 3,000 years and invented a system of writing known as heiroglyphs. With the Egyptians' strong belief in the afterlife they produced some of the most beautiful artefacts of the ancient world to decorate their tombs and help them through their journey.
